Limelit Ships GEO Agent Platform With 211 MCP Tools Free

The Development

Limelit.co launched an MCP server exposing 211 tools, per its documentation dated October 19, 2026. The tools let assistants including Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and Windsurf track brand visibility across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Google AI Overviews and Google AI Mode, and record the hidden searches (query fan-out) each engine runs. Agents are built from typed workflow blocks and can run once or on a schedule. Proposed writes wait in an approvals inbox, and CMS drafts cannot self-publish. Reading data over MCP is free; tools that start runs or write drafts spend credits. New accounts get 1,000 credits, with no subscription or seat fees. Limelit also released Limelit Open, an Apache 2.0 self-hosted tracker. By its own review of 28 vendors' MCP documentation, 18 gate their server behind a paid plan.

Our Take

Visibility tracking is commoditising; the contested ground is execution. Tracking tells you that you lost the citation, and the vendor that closes the gap owns the workflow and the budget. Limelit is using free MCP access as distribution, betting that agent-native teams adopt whatever their assistant can already call. The approvals inbox is the smart design choice: it gives governance-minded buyers a reason to say yes to autonomy. Treat the 18-of-28 paywall statistic with caution, since it is a vendor's self-reported review of competitors. The pricing pressure is still real. Paying extra for MCP access is becoming hard to defend.

What Changed

GEO work now runs as a closed loop inside the assistant a team already uses: detect where a competitor is cited instead, brief and draft the fix, route it through human approval, publish, and request recrawl. Scheduled agents replace the analyst-to-dashboard-to-writer handoff.

4

Marketing Impact

SEO and content operations feel it first. Gap analysis, briefing and drafting collapse into one scheduled workflow, shifting editors from producing to approving. Marketing operations inherits a new job: governing agent permissions, credit consumption and approval queues across tools that write into the CMS.

5

Competitive Implication

Agent-native in-house teams and lean startups gain a full GEO loop at near-zero entry cost. Dashboard-only visibility vendors and agencies billing hours for gap analysis and first-draft content are exposed, because the mechanism of their value, reporting and manual execution, is now a free tool call.

6

Strategic Outlook

Expect rivals to open MCP access and add approval-gated agents within two quarters. Pricing will migrate from seats to credits per action. Differentiation will shift to citation-outcome data and governance controls. Vendors that keep agent access behind enterprise tiers will lose bottom-up adoption to free-to-start competitors.

The Exploit

Action Item

Have your head of SEO or content operations run one Limelit workflow on the 1,000 free credits before Q1 2027 planning. Target ten buyer-intent questions where competitors are cited and you are not, and measure draft-to-approval time against your current process.
